The Opportunity:

Ford Next is the New Businesses Platform for Ford Motor Company. Ford Next�??s mission is to incubate and launch these new businesses, creating value for Ford, while complimenting Ford products and services and reaching new customers. One avenue Ford Next seeks to create value is to accelerate innovation and progress of delivering shared, sustainable mobility business models for moving people and goods. This has created the opportunity for an exciting role to lead a new moving goods business.

The Team:

This role reports to Chet Dhruna, Head of Business Planning and Strategy, Ford Next. Chet leads a team exploring and building new businesses. Chet reports to Franck Louis-Victor, VP, New Businesses and CEO, Ford Next LLC.

The Position:

Ford Next is seeking a proven Executive leader to lead the development of this moving goods business. This person will help build a team that will identify new strategies and solutions to both the business and customers. Key responsibilities include:

  • Attract, coach, and develop a world-class team
  • Establish sales process, methodologies, infrastructure, and metrics for the two-sided Marketplace
  • Create and execute a long-term customer acquisition plan
  • Build operational capacities to support the marketplace operation
  • Set the tone for the product development of the business
  • Represent the business in discussions with Executive Leadership at Ford
  • Create and deliver on an operational business plan

The preferred role location is SE Michigan. A remote candidate located in Eastern or Central Time Zone would be considered, but frequent travel to Detroit is required.

The Person:

The leader of this new moving goods business will have deep expertise in building new business initiatives. They will have a collaborative leadership style with the ability to lead through influence and build meaningful relationships at all levels and functions of the organization. The best candidates will have a strong sales background, proven experience working in technology enabled businesses and a strong working knowledge of the moving goods space. Credibility among the team and peers is essential as well as a deep understanding of the Ford+ Plan, enabling an enterprise mindset.

This person will model Ford+ behaviors: compete like a challenger, modernize, disrupt and care for each other. They will champion a winning culture and inspire and motivate our teams by leading emerging digital technologies and agile to deliver value to the business.

They will be highly skilled in attracting and developing talent and bring a strong commitment to diversity and belonging. They will have an executive presence, be able to work cross-functionally, in a matrixed environment and have experience in a large multi-national company. Most important, the successful leader will exhibit the Ford executive capabilities and work diligently and ethically each day to help achieve success of the Ford+ plan. Our most successful executive partners adopt best practices, follow established processes, and embrace feedback with a mindset of continuous improvement.

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Bachelor�??s degree in Business Administration, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in a client facing management/leadership role with demonstrated knowledge of optimizing a two-sided marketplace

Our preferred requirements:

  • Advanced degree or MBA
  • Hands-on manager willing to roll up their sleeves
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with C-level executives
  • Proven client-facing skills, including effective presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships across the customer organization, at all levels
  • Exceptional tech literacy and ability to relate requirements to product development organization
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic startup environment
  • Ability to see the big picture while delivering on short-term objectives
  • Proven ability to manage external partners and satisfy customers
  • Previous experience in a new growth, fast paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task and drive parallel projects and distributed teams with tight deadlines
  • Maturity and leadership to drive cultural change, exceptional communication skills
